Hello HigherTrek Community!
By Paul Sigler, Executive Director
I never would have imaged when I met Christian Postel in 2018 at a men’s retreat that I would one day succeed him as the Executive Director of HigherTrek.
In the fall of 2021, I leaned from Christian that HigherTrek was working to expand its framework through a digital platform. He was already well into production at that time but asked if I would consider providing additional support in the areas of videography and editing, which I was happy to do. A few months later I learned more about HigherTrek while doing a shoot for the video series with Dr. Mark Moore about the reliability of scripture. I continued to do contract work with HigherTrek throughout 2022 and into 2023.
On February 8, 2023 God visited the campus of Asbury University in a way that I will never forget. What began as a routine, one-hour chapel service turned into a two-week outpouring of the Holy Spirit that drew visitors from all over the world. The words “blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6) became tangible, and many college aged men and women committed their lives to Jesus. Witnessing this, I began to think seriously about the need for discipleship among the next generation. I received a call from Alan and Christian that same week asking if I would consider praying about the Executive Director position at HigherTrek. Over the next several months, as my wife, Riley, and I prayed, we received many affirmations from the Lord, leading me to accept the position on June 30, 2023 in confidence that it was God’s will.
I want to express my gratitude and excitement for this opportunity. Christian and the entire Board of Directors have positioned HigherTrek for new growth and continued depth. As I step into this position, my priorities are to finish the video series and get acquainted with many of you, who have faithfully invested in this incredible ministry. Having experienced the program this summer and with the video series nearing completion, I can’t wait to see how God uses HigherTrek in the years to come.
